The Questlandia Kickstarter successfully funded March 21st, just a few short weeks ago. Since then, Evan Rowland and I have been working in tandem on the aesthetic side of things. While I delve into book layout and design, Evan has been producing some amazing art for the game.

Artwork

The book art, which initially only included character and kingdom illustrations, now includes four kingdom troubles (made possibly by the double art stretch goal). The breakdown of illustrations will look something like this:

  • 4 character sketches (complete!)
  • 2 kingdom settings (50%)
  • 4 kingdom troubles (50%)

Plus, awesome illustrated diagrams to help with gameplay and cartography.

Layout

Book layout is moving along as well. Working with InDesign has been fun, though the web designer in me is having some trouble breaking out of the CSS box model. I’m so used to positioning everything using floats, pixels, and padding. Manually resizing boxes feels a bit strange.

Progress

If you’d like to follow the overall project progress, I’ve created a page for Kickstarter backers that breaks down the project by category. It’s a rough breakdown, so take it with a grain of salt. Ten filled bubbles equal 100% completion, and green bubbles represent recently updated categories.

Exciting stuff!
